The Fellowship of the Ring is the first part of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy written in the early 1900's by J R R Toklien. It leaves off from the widely acclaimed children's book 'The Hobbit' and follows the journey of Frodo Baggins. A mythical Hobbit creature who's task it is to destroy the ruling ring of power made in the dark ages by Lord Sauron. Frodo must leave his home in the Shire and travel across Middle Earth, with a fellowship of 9; Hobbits, Wizards, Men, Elves and Dwarfs.

The first book (FOTR) gives the background story to the ring and the starting of Frodo's adventure, as he travels from the Shire to Rivendell and finally to the breaking of the fellowship.

Billy plays Pippin Took, the youngest of the 4 hobbits in the fellowship who accompanies Frodo on his quest. The film was released the 19th of December 2001 and if your quick can still be seen at cinemas all over the world. The DVD is due for release in July and November.

In the first film Billy played a small but important part in the story (SPOILERS BELOW)

leading to the fall of the skeleton in Moria and Gandalf's fall. Seen as one of the more comical hobbits (along with Merry, played by Dominic Monaghan) his most memorable lines in the film are:

In the Shire
Pippin: "Look Merry!! It's Frodo. Frodo Baggins!!"

In Bree
Pippin: "What's that?"
Merry: "This my friend, is a pint!"
Pippin: "It comes in pints? I'm getting one"
(leading to Pippin getting rather tipsy)

Outside Bree
Pippin: "What about Breakfast?"
Strider: "You've already had it"
Pippin: "We've had one yes. But what about second Breakfast?"
Merry: "I don't think he knows about second Breakfast Pip."
Pippin: "What about Elevensies? Luncheon? Afternoon tea, dinner, supper?? He knows about them doesn't he?"
Merry: "I wouldn't count on it"

Weathertop
Pippin: "Oh that's nice!! Ash on my tomatoes!"

Rivendell
Pippin: "Anyway, you need people (he's a hobbit!! - fool script writers) of intelligence on this sort of mission ... quest ... thing!"
Merry: "Well that rules you out Pip."
Elrond: "Very well. You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring!"
Pippin: "Right. Where are we going??"

Moria
Pippin: "Merry"
Merry: "What?"
Pippin: "I'm hungry"
